I can’t believe that teacher orientation starts next Monday. I have only ONE DAY for any kind of vacation! Live it up, baby…
I’m not giving up! I’m going to do what I can to catch the wave of the 23 things. I will not be conquered!
I’m working on calendar issues for the upcoming school year. The former directors of the band and choir programs did nothing to establish any of the events for the coming year. They basically packed and left with no physical aides for the next guy (me). I’ve spent a vast amount of time re-creating what has been done for the past couple years in order to get a fix on what is expected by the students and their parents. After that, it was on to Google searches for contact numbers on parades and festivals, e-mail requests and the like… I’m half done.
I am going down the social network trail and still have no idea what good it does to be connected with people I don’t know that well. But I can tweet and bologna now that I’ve read the instructions. Now it’s on to pingbacking and links.
In setting up for this 23 things, I’ve joined several on line organizations, each with their own sign in and password and website. Is there a way to keep all of it organized and easy to access? How does one keep all the passwords without crossing up?
I’m starting a new job and trying to keep up with teaching Summer School. Now I’m thinking of adding the on-line teacher training and I feel like I’m going under!
blast! I have joined a Clovis 23 group and I’m already a week behind on the schedule… Seemed like a good thing to do at the time, now the time’s gotten away.
I’m going to try to figure out a way to get back into the swing of this thing.
I went to a Keeping Score group meeting today. The group is a collection of about 20 teachers taken from various schools throughout the Fresno area, most from elementary schools and most of the most are women. I am in a smaller group with some nice people from Parlier High School and Manchester Gate Elementary.
The focus of the meeting today was on musical terms. Dynamics, Articulations, Rhythm, and Tempo (DART) specifics were trained. There were a lot of good ideas. Knowing the material was helpful to me, and I felt as though I had a lot of help I could offer the group(s). It was a long day, but worthwhile.
We’ll be taking all of what we discussed to the Keeping Score workshops in San Francisco later this week. I am eager to see how we go beyond basic concepts. At least I hope we move on!
I’ve never been prone to Blogging (journal writing, diary entries). I’m not really all that fired up about it now, but am willing to begin a new adventure as I stretch and grow. My “musical musings in B flat concert” will give me a place to stash ideas as my teaching stretches and grows.
